United and Continental Airlines Merge

Nothing will change for now, each carrier will still operate it's own planes and sell it's own tickets independently. It's estimated in 12-18 months that the merger will be complete, and the big changes will happen. The new United Airlines will be slightly larger than Atlanta based Delta, and analysts predict that they have a long road ahead of them with a union situation down the road.
